Getting to and around Amsterdam


Arrival by plane



To arrive to Amsterdam by air, the nearest airport is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol which is the Netherlands main international airport. Located only 10 kilometers from Amsterdam the airport offers a quick connection to Amsterdam with intercity trains leaving every 15 minutes taking you to Amsterdam is just under 20 minutes.

Arrival by car



The city of Amsterdam has launched several initiatives for improved accessibility of Amsterdam. Wanting to access Amsterdam by car? We suggest parking at one of the eight Park&Ride locations, indicated on the map. At the Park&Ride desk you can acquire your public transport chip card to continue your journey into the city centre by bus or tram, the parking itself will cost €8,- per day.

Arrival by public transport

Train


Amsterdam Central train station offers connections to many international locations (e.g. Antwerp, Basel, Berlin, Brussels, Paris) as well as all Dutch cities. Amsterdam has several train stations surrounding the city. For purchasing your domestic ticket or inquiring on up-to-date arrival times, please visit the Dutch Railway website, for your international tickets please visit their international website.

Bus, Tram and Metro


Amsterdam has one main public transport company called GVB, they offer connections via bus, tram and subway.
